Week 2 – Support

My wife Amanda and I did our first straight-60 right before starting this one. Eric and his wife Laura were doing it along with us, but other than that, we were pretty much on our own. We are only 2 weeks in, but I can say I prefer doing it with a group. I realize I don’t see the group all the often, and don’t usually eat any of my meals with the group either, but knowing the group is there, others going through it with us, just helps. I’ve enjoyed talking to those of you I see around at […]

Xylitol, Erythritol and the rest of them…

The -itol family.  A strange sugar substitute that gets its own listing on the nutrition data on a food label, often surprising those who are used to looking at labels, but not used to seeing those terms.  Anything in that -itol family is an alcohol, and a sugar alcohol specifically if we consider xylitol, erythritol, malitol, sorbitol as the primary sugar alcohols used as sweeteners, we can see differences in their chemical composition that can have different impact on our body. Xylitol has been highly regarded as a healthy sugar alcohol, exhiibiting properties that allow it to actually assist the […]

What is CrossFit?

I just prepared a Power Point presentation that I will be delivering to a bunch of chiropractors tomorrow evening at Life University for a continuing education class.  “What is CrossFit?”  The funny thing to me, is that the power point is really serving one primary purpose.  To keep me within the allotted timeline. I could talk on what CrossFit is, without any power point, prop, note, or cue for hours if given the chance.  I have to tell you, the only thing I really don’t like about CrossFit, is that I didn’t invent it.  Rarely do I get behind something […]

Simple and Cheap 3 Day Cleanse

If you want a simple and cheap alternative way to cleanse, here it is: Water from waking to noon, carbonated is good.  From noon to the end of the day, use 8 ounces of water with two slices of grapefruit, lemon or orange squeezed into it.  For a slice, use ¼ slices of lemon, 1/8 slices of orange, or 1/12 slices of grapefruit. Carbonated is ok still.  At the end of the day, take three tablespoons of full fat greek yogurt, mixed with half a handful of berries and 1 cup of almond or coconut milk and blend them into […]

Week 1 – The second 60

We are back at it. I was excited to get back into the diet and back into crossfit after a week vacation. You may be wondering how I did during my week off the diet. Well, I didn’t do great. I didn’t really hesitate to have any of the foods that are restricted on this diet. I think the issue for me was that I knew I only had a week to enjoy everything that I had missed. So, I went a little more overboard than I should have, but didn’t completely mess myself up. I think/hope that when I […]

Cholesterol and High Fat

The interesting thing about the cholesterol concern, is that in all research, consuming a diet higher in fat, and lower in sugar (or foods that easily turn to sugar, such as grains or root vegetables), shows a decrease in overall cholesterol.  Really interesting considering the mentality that has ruled the last 40 years, is that fat is bad. The article in Time Magazine that I have been seen waving around wildly in recent weeks, “Eat Butter”, gives great credence to the eat high fat diet that we have been teaching.  My Weight Gain Challenge (yes, I am trying to put […]

Mercola Speaks

Zithromax and Januvia: Two Commonly-Prescribed Drugs Now Shown to Be Killing Patients On the heels of the first 60 Day Turnaround Class – it is good to support the concerns about medications designed to “HELP” people with high blood sugar (Type II Diabetes), this is the new world of Januvia. Here is a good portion of the article – By Dr. Mercola Recent news again highlights why you’d be well advised to heed early warnings about potentially dangerous drugs. The first featured article reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now investigating a potential link between a […]
