If you do not plan on doing the 60 Day Turnaround, then you should buy the detox kit via the link above for $85, and get your hair tested for mineral levels. First step to testing, plan to get a small amount of hair from the root side, not the ends, and best to do it right before you get it treated or colored (meaning the furthest from the last treatment).
You can also pull hair from other places on your body. We have kits in the office that will show you how much hair is necessary. So, lets get down to business and see why we should ever have a mineral assay of our hair.
Reason #1 – Because you want to know the level of excretion of all minerals in your body.
The cool thing about a hair analysis, is that it shows the excretion of everything in your body. This is really good for assessing the average levels of certain minerals in your body, and their excretion rate. Understanding this measure, will help you understand your deficiencies as well as your poor balance areas.
Reason #2 – Because you are toxic and you have no idea how bad it is.
Face it, we are all toxic. You have a liver that cannot keep up with this world. Else half your friends wouldn’t be dying from irreversible cancer diagnosis. But, in our culture, that is how it goes as you get old enough. Sad.
The main levels that we test with this assessment are Arsenic, Mercury, Lead, Cadmium and Aluminum. Extremely important in the assessment of neurological disorders, or in the likelihood of getting them.
But this is the interesting thing, we can ONLY measure the amount of exit happening for the toxin. We cannot measure the size of the bucket that needs to be emptied. The implication of this, is that if we test you, and you have areal high aluminum level. It means it is being excreted at high levels. Could be a lot of it present, might be very little, but it is being excrete. Which suggests that detoxification might be working.
There are so many scenarios, you need to work through them for yourself. And the first step, is buy a kit! $50 for people doing the 60 day turnaround, $85 for those not doing it. I’l talk more about the testing process over the next few weeks.

The bulk of this article comes from the review of Sue Becker’s blog on the Bread Beckers site. Honestly, I am shocked I haven’t seen more from the Bekker’s on this before now. They are a bread focused company… Our Daily Bread… the Bread of Life, and so on and so forth. So with all the grain attack of today, how could they NOT be in the middle of it all?
The interesting thing… well to me, is that I have not read the book “Wheat Bellies”, and I had kind of considered I never would, until about a week ago. I mentioned to my wife, that I had been planning on delving into this book to see exactly what is said. Reason being, I know that I would agree and disagree the entire way through, and simply wondered if I would be 50/50, 60/40, 40/60… so then this article comes along, and now I am spurred to action!
The Book Wheat Belly is really a focused look at how wheat is the single most damaging part of the American diet. Of course I don’t believe that. Even though I teach to avoid wheat, I just don’t teach to give it up completely, only for a time. And the why for me, is the same as the why for Sue. However, I think Sue fails to understand it as well as she should, product of bias. Just like I think the chiropractic adjustment is the most important part of all health pursuit… product of bias I would think.
So let me get down to the details, and once again, this is a major area of discussion along the path of the 60 Day Turnaround. What is a lectin (protein like gluten), what is it doing in this plant/seed/grain… and how is it going to effect me? Gluten is a devastating little molecule. And not only to the individuals with the full celiac symptoms that Sue discusses, but also to every individual who has eaten too many skittles in their life. Or downed too much purple colored gatorade.
See, the problem isn’t that your immune system wants to kick into auto-immunity… as much as you have taken food additive chemicals too regularly over your life, and now your gut is a point of weak contention.
Page after page of the Wheat Belly book is filled with arguments against wheat. Much of the substantiating evidence against wheat is based on the detrimental affect wheat has on people with celiac disease. One would certainly expect detrimental health responses to wheat for a celiac person. Celiac disease is caused by an inability to digest a particular protein component of gluten, known as gliadin. Gluten is the naturally occurring protein of most grains, particularly wheat. If you can not properly digest a food, then it is toxic to you. It is not surprising then that people with celiac disease will have health issues if they do not eliminate gluten from their diets and will certainly feel remarkably better when they do.
This portion of Sue’s article is a great discussion on the reality that God did put gluten in wheat and other grains. Thus I believe it is absolutely fine for gluten to be in your gut. She also does a great job tearing down the Wheat Belly argument that there are a bunch of GMO grains flooding the market. And the reality is that the GMO grain in the world is corn. The GMO plants are soy and alfalfa. I have had patients say to me, “But that is GMO wheat”… to which my reply is typically, “doesn’t exist on our market” yet… it is in testing phases now.
So her points are good, and well focused. That the world is pushing too negative against all grain. And I agree, there is a component of the world pushing the Paleo diet more and more, and it is pushing out of control. Which is simply no grains across the board (along with other rules… yep, you guessed it, 60 Day Turnaround). So let me give you my quick WHY no grains for a period, then a very controlled one serving (20% of caloric intake maximum) per day.
I like Sue’s rant against Dr. Davis (author of wheat bellies), she puts him in his place quite well. But then she makes a mistake, by stating this:
Of course you feel more sustained on the omelet, but a breakfast of freshly milled whole grain waffles will stabilize your blood sugar and satisfy your hunger for hours, giving you lots of energy. People have different body chemistry. Some people do better on more carbohydrates while others do better on more protein, but always the carbohydrates must be real – real fruits, real vegetables, and real whole grains.
The word stabilize is so misplaced here. The reality of the situation, is that the problem with our culture, is that we will eat more grain in a single serving than Christ could have in a day. Our methods of milling, and processing in the home even (yes, all of you freshly milled grain families who actually plug your mill into an outlet), are leaps and bounds beyond the design from 2-4,000 years ago. So we can eat pancakes, and muffins, and biscuits and even “healthy” cookies. Well, now we are in a world of disaster, and one destined for cancer thanks to that blood sugar rise that will surely come to pass.
No, no, no. That breakfast is not one to stabilize blood sugar, but rather to sky rocket it out of site. And to play a role of devastation on your insulin receptors, and eventually on your cell membrane fluid pump, leading to anaerobic states, and acidity followed by disease and untimely death.
YES, YES YES – eat the healthy freshly milled grains, but in great moderation. And use a rich protein to help offset the effects of grain being converted into glucose. So what do we teach? 40 days minimum, to 12 months with no grains. When? Whenever your body is sugar addicted. So if you cannot go without grain, fruit and all other sugars for three days without wanting to eat your own head, then you need it. If you cannot fast for a day and stay focused, then you need it. If you find yourself dizzy within three hours of breakfast, dying for more food, you need it.
You need the time to pullback, and acquaint your body with just a small twinge of what it was like for Christ to walk in the desert for 40 days without food. In the end, I want you to mill your own grains, and I want you to go the Beckers to learn how. I had Sue come talk at one of our first Body By God Challenges about 9 years ago. Since then, we have taught thousand of people, and led hundreds in weight loss that cumulatively is likely over ten thousand pounds.

One thing we do a really good job at during the 60 Day Turnaround, or Total Food Makeover, is explain why you need to eat more saturated fat. Suffice it to say, simple observation is reason enough.
1975 – Our culture rejects saturated fat, we push for vegetable oils, and unsaturated fats.
1980 – Heart disease takes a steady up turn. 1990 – mevacor is steadily rising in its use as the first statin drug in the world
1995 – more people are taking statins every year, heart disease continues to rise
2013 – heart disease has risen like crazy, saturated fat is known to be an anti-inflammatory fat in the vascular system, most omega 6 vegetable oils are found to be highly inflammatory. The world, via Discover Kids Magazine, is still saying to avoid saturated fats. Dr. Eric cries.
Well, I won’t cry, that would suggest I have given up. Instead I’ll scream in disgust. The image above comes from the magazine below. The problem is that most health professionals have led us into this place where 1/2.5 deaths is heart disease.
The Magazine – Titled NUTRITION by DISCOVER KIDS, is horrendous for its outdated garbage. It makes me want to scream. My 8 year old daughter could better reason through healthy fats than this article.
OK, so if you have come to GMO talk world, you know we need to kill the GMO’s! So this is no good, they are all sorts of positive on Corn and Soybean which come almost exclusively from GMO! Genetically Modified Organism. These are the types of “foods” that will convert you and especially your gut bacteria, into genetically modified garbage!
The only thing they get right is to eat fish and nuts and avocados, and to avoid trans fats. Otherwise these guys need to be fired. Period.
I should write about ten more paragraphs on this but lets kick it off and end it with the inflammation side… saturated fats will lead your vessel walls to a place of health, they will educe c-reactive protein and homo cysteine levels, and they will keep your arteries from plaquing. They could increase your total cholesterol, but guess what, you don’t care. After 30 years of treating cholesterol, we haven’t dented heart disease, because we have labeled the wrong causes. Feel your head spinning in this knowledge? Come to get educated.
So the rant – it leads to the 60 Day Turnaround. Your base cost will be $49 for patients, and $99 for non-patients, and it will be the best 60 days of your life if you let it! Starting in late September, get ready!

I was sent this email the other day, it might have been in response to this facebook post of mine:
Right now is the moment that leaves me wondering why, why do I do this? My practice is all that I really need, but now at 10:45 I am finally heading home after loading a truck full of obstacles two times, and there are still things to be loaded back at the site of the race. The truck is filled completely waiting to be unloaded, the expenses were so high that there was really no value financially to run this event. But as I think about the day, the reasons are plentiful, and they are so worthy the sacrifice. I had a woman tell me that she overcame fears that she’s had for 30 years, and that even though she had been able to get fit over the last couple years in order to do a race like this, she hadn’t been able to escape fears that it wouldn’t last or that she would slip back into poorer health. She Said she felt stronger than she has in a long time. She was one of many incredible comments, yet hers alone would’ve been enough. Now to sleep and back to adjusting my peeps in the morning!
I imagine he may have seen this, and felt like building me up some would be good. I appreciated it, but the reality is, I don’t do much. I just speak truth. It is easy, to speak truth continually. The hard part is for people to move. See how he moved:

I did not make it in on Sunday to volunteer, I wanted to let you know it was only because my knee was so swollen I could barely walk. What I want to do is thank you though. Last year I was in about the worst shape of my life. I had started a version of Crossfit at WOW in January and it lasted till about the end of March. So 3 months of working out a couple days a week was about it for me starting in 2006. My wife knows how competitive I am and she saw a deal on Living Social for the 2012 Firebreather Challenge and signed me up. I came to the challenge all by myself not knowing a soul there and started to run. Someplace around the tarp obstacle I ran into you and we talked for a brief minute. You encouraged me to keep moving. I ran into you again at the break point for the short and long course. By that point I had walked a great deal of the course hills and was beat. You pushed me in the direction of the long course and talked to me for a short time about the Garage and Crossfit. Long story short is I finished the long course and walked a huge portion of it. no other way I could have done it. I was close to 280 pounds and had not run in years.
In the interim I joined the Garage in Mid December. I love the friends and fun I have met and had. I have done 3 competitions so far. The Festivus, the Girls, and the WWW Aftermath. I even did the WWW in the Masters RX division! I even did the Crossfit Open to get a baseline for the future. I have worked with Aubrey and Justin on my diet with the Nutrition Challenge in May and have lost 40 pounds. Some of my strength has gone with it but I feel so much better. I am eating clean now with the exception of a cheat day here and there but 99% of the time I eat clean. I would have never really known about all this without you talking to me last summer while I struggled through the FireBreather. It meant a lot then and this weekend really made me think back to last year.
I came to this Firebreather just hoping I could run half the time without stopping. I surprised myself. I ran the whole race! I may not have run as fast as my two team mates Conrad and Sean, but I ran… I finished all the obstacles pretty fast and the best part was my two team mates were waiting for me at the finish line cheering me in.
The volunteering really made the weekend. I came out and helped some on Friday night after work and then from the end of my race on Saturday morning till 4:45 at the cargo net cliff. I had to leave though cause my wife was flying in from Chicago and her flight landed at 5pm and I had to pick her up at the airport. Thank goodness the baggage return was broken cause it gave me time to leave Rope Mill at 4:50 and get to the airport with out her having to wait on me. I talked to so many people and families at the cargo net that were having so much fun. Some travelled from Florida and Alabama just for this race. I saw people do things they did not think they could do. So many came through and asked to find a way around the net, they were scared of heights, they were scared of water, whatever the reason was for them to be scared they did it! I helped, their friends helped, even strangers helped. It was great to see all the friendship and teamwork. I got to give racers tips this year. Who would have thought that would happen.
In closing I wanted to thank you for the encouragement last year and the fun experience this year. I know you probably hear it a lot, but I wanted you to hear it from me. It has made a difference in my life and health. Thanks

Joe the recent World Wide WOD Competition
So why did I say “your responsibility” in the title of this article? Because most of you have been through so much of this, you have been educated, you have changed your lives, you have altered reality for yourselves and your families. So guess what, the next time a Joe comes running by, you need to be the one to stop and encourage.
I guarantee you, that after Joe has accomplished all that he has, he would stop and encourage, he would educate and he would lead someone to water. So that they might quench the thirst for a healthier path. You need to do it to… now!

It is 11:11 pm. Oh my. I am ruined. My body is destroyed, and i am sitting in my underwear at the kitchen table, with cuts and bruises all over my body, eating a salad (first time I really ate today), and thinking of sharing with you.
It will be short, as I am in no mood for long! But I just finished the obstacle course race, not running it, hosting it. Most of you know that I am horizontally integrated if you consider health, or vertically integrated if you consider health outlets!
So I am into the obstacle course thing, but not really for myself. You know I have never done one outside of the Firebreather. I do adventure race, but I know most people are scared to try those, so I am bridging the gap with this. But I digress.
I am writing, because in a weekend, I had more positive life change stories come at me, than I get in practice in five months… and I realized that this is why I really do it. Because I love interacting with the people… people on a mission, people trying to start something. People trying to complete something. All good stories.
So, I am going to shower and die for a bit, and I will see you tomorrow. But I hope you get a chance to ask me or someone else who was part of it, about the experience! And thank you for all of you who participated o volunteered. My office came through in a big way to help out! Thank you thank you thank you!

Michael Winkle This day changed my life. I finished my first race ever. I was overweight, broke from putting 2 children through college, and had let myself go after my career with the US Navy. I finished this race and gained confidence, pride and my lost CAN DO spirit. I’ve raced 5 races since then, and I feel better and live better. Thank you FBC! You saved me.
For similar reasons, I run off to The High Hampton Inn to host wellness retreats. You would be amazed at some of the follow up stories I have heard from the attendants of those retreats.
But right now, my call for help, as I titled this Daily Sprout, is to get you to come out this weekend and help me out either Saturday or Sunday with The Firebreather Challenge. I need volunteers, a bunch more of them!
