Horrified in the Cafeteria

I spent two hours at my daughters’ school today.  I was literacy helper… ?? Then I monitored the class in the lunch room as well as on the playground.  I have to admit, on more than one occasion I had to stop myself from taking a photo of an unsealed ting child’s lunch.  Quite honestly, it happened three times where my hand was on my phone before I remembered how inappropriate it would be for me to post pics

of someone else’s lunch box on Facebook.

SO instead, keeping those kids names candid, and their lunches anonymous, I am going to tell you the awful story of their lunch.  And this isn’t a story of kissing perfection, this is a story of me being lapped in the face with how bad normal is.  Listen, I know people love their kids, and through love we feel like they deerve cookies and chips, and colored yogurts with more sugar than could ever be dissolved into fluid (it hides well in yogurt though).  But this kind of love could better be described as tough love… Silent tough love.

so named because these kids are being destroyed, we are 17 years away from the projected date of 1/3 of our population having diabetes.   Tough silent love, obvious tonthe child that mom loves them, not so obvious that the freedom of eating jello and lunchables is leading them to disease.

Let me give some details for you.  First off, the lunchables.  Always bad, no way worse.  You may know about nitrates And nitrites, they are carcinogens in processed meats, but at high levels in boxed conyainers like lunchables, not to mention the awful processed cheese, the crackers with trans fat, and now, the mini. Nestlé crunch bar.  Hey, I am not unreasonable, I him. A kid can have a candy bar every now and again, though not one with trams fat (nestle, snickers, Hershey’s, M & M’s, etc, etc)… But to give one every day in a lunch box.  Oh my, I honestly felt so sad for our country at the moment I realized four of twenty had this for their lunch.

Next, cookies.  Cookies, cookies and cookies.  Kids were taking out their lunches, and starting with the cookies and rainbow colored yogurt, or the bag of chips.  I guess what is really important, and was shocking to me, is that this was just another day; yet there were meals being thrown around that looked like it was their birthday, or the last meal they were ever going to eat.  But these meals are the norm in the school lunch world, and it isn’t a wonder that we are “Poisoned Kitchen, Toxic America”.

In closing this article, I want to ask you to speak out against the mainstream Do not feed your kids garbage, but move them closer and closer to healthy foods.  They are worth it!  Be Well and Blessed! – Dr. E

The Three Words – “Just In Case”

Go to a medical doctor for a concern over your health, and you’ll likely hear these three words, “Just in case”.  I don’t have a problem with these words.  Not really, but I do have a problem if you act on them often, which should quickly bring up the question of how often is often?

Once a year.  If you act on “Just in Case” once per year, with a 5 day Z-Pack, then in 34 years you will have taken the amount necessary according to the JAMA article from 2004 that will double your risk of breast cancer.  Now, I am not saying that you should never take an antibiotic, but perhaps you should consider that Just In Case isn’t a good reason.  Or better yet, what makes you think that exposing yourself to a medical opinion is a good idea when your symptoms are simply that of a cold?

Bronchial infections, sinus infections, and most every other infection that is in the head and chest is viral.  And you should at least give yourself a a few days to watch what happens.  The body is a machine capable of killing all bacteria and viruses.  Its ability is superior to that of a drug when it is working.  MRSA infections that do not respond to medication, can be killed by your own immune system.  You just need to at a bare minimum, take steps to improve your immune system.

Bringing me back to the JAMA article referenced above.  This article makes it VERY clear, that taking an antibiotic is easily correlated with weakening of the immune system.  Read below:

The hypothesis that some classes of antibiotics may increase risk of breast cancer is plausible; antibiotics have effects on intestinal microflora and on immune and inflammatory responses.2 For example, antibiotic use may increase risk of breast cancer by decreasing phytochemical metabolism by intestinal microflora.4,16 Phytochemicals are hypothesized to play an inhibitory role at several points in the carcinogenesis pathway by modulating enzymes involved in carcinogen and steroid hormone metabolism.16– 19 Also, use of tetracycline may be associated with increased production of prostaglandin E2, a hallmark of the inflammatory response, catalyzed by cyclooxygenase 1 and 2.20 Overexpression of cyclooxygenase 2 is associated with mammary carcinogenesis, while inhibition of prostaglandins and other inflammatory responses by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is associated with a 20% to 40% decreased risk of breast cancer.21– 24

I know that it is easy to take me less serious than I think you should.  Why?  Because I sing the same song, and you are out there in the real world.  Come on Eric, cant you see what we are up against!?!?  Of course I can, I live there too.  I have kids, I have a wife, and we have health concerns.  But I stand absolutely rock solid firm in the faith that this body was made leaps and bounds better than what the average MD thinks.  That my hands could never add glory to the body, it is already there, but that if only I could help it get back to its best health expression.. aaaahhhh, now we are singing.

What about the drug Zelnorm?  The FDA pulled it in 2007 because of increased risk of heart disease.  Funny, it is one of the most common increased risks of any drug, so you wonder how bad it has to be to pull it.  Some reports suggested that the FDA found that there was a 7 times increased rate of heart attack in all aged women taking zelnorm.  So what was the drug used for?  IBS.  So I can hear the conversations:

“Well, I think your IBS is something that needs to be kept under control, as it is a social nuisance, and we cannot find the real cause, so we are just going to treat the symptoms… oh no, there are no serious side effects of this medication, and I think we need to be considerate, IBS can become very chronic if left untreated, so lets treat just in case.”

A month later – “people are dying on this medication, we need to stop”.

So what about the month?  Any lasting effects of the drug?  According to the antibiotic study, when there were large duration gaps between antibiotic usage, it had no impact.  No less percentage of cancer because of gaps.  Meaning… still awful.

It is so easy to say, “just this once”.  But it is also easy for the once, to be all that it takes.  My two girls love dolphins, they love nature.  They haven’t been medicated because I understand when just in case is  a waste, and when enough is enough.  Period.

Toxicology Report on Roundup and GMO!

This interview with Dr. Mercola is available on our site here, or on youtube.  It seems like a fitting topic, as we are preparing for a group cleanse this week.  We have about 35 people who will be doing the suero cleanse together!  Awesome for the group to be supporting each other, but more awesome for this group of people to be giving themselves a rest.  No toxic substances going in, improved liver function, and improved overall health becuse of it!

Dr. Don Huber is likely the leading GMO expert in the world. He is an award-winning, internationally recognized scientist, and professor emeritus of plant pathology at Purdue University for the past 35 years.

His agriculture research is focused on the epidemiology and control of soil-borne plant pathogens, with specific emphasis on microbial ecology, cultural and biological controls, and the physiology of host-parasite relationships.

His research over the past few decades has led him to become very outspoken against genetically modified organisms (GMO) and genetically engineered (GE) foods and the use of Roundup in agriculture in general.

He’s really one of the best scientists we have in the GMO movement for documenting the dangers of genetically engineered foods.

“I appreciate the opportunity to share a little bit of my research and the research of many other scientists who are expressing concern; recognizing that we’ve missed the boat in much of this discussion and much of the process, because it’s really a food and health safety issue that we’re dealing with here,” he says.

Three Things You Need to Know About GMOs

There’s a lot of confusion about the basic validity of concerns about genetically engineered (GE) foods. Many have been deceived into thinking that there’s really no difference between GE foods and conventional fare, and all these worries are just paranoid fear-mongering.

According to Dr. Huber, the following three facts are some of the most important that everyone needs to understand about GMOs:

  1. Despite what the media and so-called “experts” proclaim, there are NO peer-reviewed scientific papers establishing the safety of GMO crops.According to Dr. Huber, so far, no one has been able to establish that there’s a safety factor to either the genetically engineered proteins (i.e. the foreign proteins produced by the genetically modified plant) or the chemicals we’re consuming in ever larger quantities as a result of the genetic engineering process. There are, however, both clinical and peer-reviewed scientific papers showing the hazards of GMO crops, including harmful secondary effects.

“A group of us met with top USDA administrators. They assured us that they based all their decisions on peer-reviewed science. When we asked them if they would share any of that, they were unable to produce any,” he says.

  2. Epidemiological patterns show there’s an identical rise in over 30 human diseases correlated with our increased usage of glyphosate and the increased prevalence of genetically engineered proteins in our food.
  3. Genetically engineered foods, as well as conventional crops that are heavily sprayed with glyphosate (the active ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup), have lower nutrient density than organic foods. They also contain high amounts of pesticides with documented harmful health effects, along with novel, highly allergenic, proteins.

Dr Eric – If you read on the Mercola site, you can get a better understanding of Hlyphosate – Monsanto’s first big step to riches, but since then, their expansion, and ability to manipulate governments (not just ours, they have bought large amounts of land from governments around the world), has led them to their current Market Cap. of $56B.

Be wise, don’t let this stuff just skim by you.  Else you’ll be wondering why you are putting your mother in a nursing home, or catering to your spouse when they don’t recall your name.  Too many are suffering as caretakers around the obvious signs of chemical duress.

Why Chiropractic?

By Dr. Amy Haas (ex Associate of HealthSprout, now owner of Path of Life Chiropractic, Nashua NH)

Why chiropractic?  It’s as simple as this:  Everything you experience – sight, smell, touch, sound, taste – is perceived and interpreted by your nervous system.  If the function of your nervous system is dulled by vertebral subluxation (misalignments or motion abnormalities of the spine that cause malfunctions in the nervous system that lives within the spine), your perception of LIFE is decreased.  But really, what you consciously experience takes up only about 5% of the bandwidth of your nervous system; 95% of your nervous system handles everything ELSE, like repairing damaged cells, adapting to environmental challenges, and killing invaders that might otherwise make you sick.  Chiropractic care is a natural, comfortable method to reduce and eliminate subluxation from your spine, so that your nervous system can work at its best, so that your body can function at its best and so you can experience LIFE to the fullest!  Sounds like a good idea?  We think so.  If we’ve intrigued you, read a few of the articles below to further explore the world of chiropractic.  Not a patient yet?  If what you read here resonates with  you, call us to schedule an appointment where we can determine how chiropractic care can brighten YOUR life.

Dr. Eric – Dr. Amy is a great chiropractor in New Hampshire.  She was with us for about two years total.  As I read through her stuff, I see so much of what I have said, what her other mentors have said, but I see it with her own feel and spin.  Which is really cool, but it is also why it is important to share.  Because you might resonate with her verbiage more than mine on a subject.  So check out the links!

I think the one truth that needs to be held onto.  You should be adjusted from now until the end of your time on Earth.  There is no reason good enough, not to be adjusted.  Your life will be better in the now, and it will be better in the future.  Keep your spine tuned in for good life!

Harvard Researchers Address Obesity and Toxic Food

With the 60 Day Turnaround getting underway, and the closure of my 3 day Suero Viv Cleanse, I thought I would share this article from Dr. Mercola, that has 130,000 page views in a day.  Popular subject, and all of you need to take it seriously.  ALL of you.  This is your life, stop acting like this stuff doesn’t concern you.  Your wrong.  I wouldn’t be harsh if I didn’t care. – Dr. E

Overeat

By Dr. Mercola

A staggering two-thirds of Americans are now overweight, and according to the American Heart Association,1 five percent of American children can now be considered “severely obese,” which puts their health at grave risk.

One in four Americans are either diabetic or pre-diabetic, and an estimated 110,000 Americans die as a result of obesity-related ailments each year. This includes cancer, about one-third of which are directly related to obesity.

Carb-rich processed foods, along with rarely ever fasting, are primary drivers of these statistics, and while many blame Americans’ overindulgence of processed junk foods on lack of self control, scientists are now starting to reveal the trulyaddictive nature of such foods.

The video above features Huffington Post’s Editorial Director Meredith Melnick and a panel of experts in nutrition, public health, and obesity. In it, they discuss the effects that our toxic food environment have on weight. The video also includes clips from the four-part HBO documentary series,2 Weight of the Nation.

As reported in the featured article:3

“Obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. People who are obese may also face social and professional discrimination, limited mobility and elevated rates of depression.

In June of this year, the American Medical Association (AMA) classified obesity as a disease for the first time — and what a complicated disease it is. At the time of the resolution, the organization wrote:

“The suggestion that obesity is not a disease but rather a consequence of a chosen lifestyle exemplified by overeating and/or inactivity is equivalent to suggesting that lung cancer is not a disease because it was brought about by individual choice to smoke cigarettes.”

It is this gray area — “the suggestion of the chosen lifestyle” — that we joined together to discuss.

Obesity—A Disease, or the Outcome of Poor Lifestyle Choices?

As the article mentions, the conventional view has been that obesity is either the result of “bad genetics” or poor lifestyle choices combined with a certain amount of laziness or lack of willpower.

But as panelist Walter Willett (who chairs the department of nutrition at the Harvard school of public health) points out, the fact that obesity rates 50-60 years ago were only one-third of what they are today is a potent clue that genetics are not to blame.

Also, a number of other affluent nations do not have the same obesity problems as the US. For example, the obesity rate among Swedish and Japanese women is between five and six percent, compared to almost 40 percent for American women. Furthermore, when people from such countries move to the US, they end up gaining significant amounts of weight…

This tells us there’s something in the American diet that is different from other nations, in which people do not have the same level of difficulty with their weight.

Unfortunately, branding obesity as a disease is not going to do anything to change matters for the better. If anything, it will only deepen the problem, as drugs, surgery and even “anti-obesity vaccines”4 will quickly become the advertised answer for this new “disease.”

For example, just one month before the AMA’s reveal of obesity as a disease, a new diet drug sold under the name Belviq became available by prescription to patients with a body mass index (BMI) above 30, or a BMI of 27 with at least one weight-related condition, such as hypertension or Type 2 diabetes.

The drug works by activating serotonin receptors in your brain, which is thought to reduce feelings of hunger—although it sounds awfully similar to the action of certain antidepressants, known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which boost serotonin levels and are fraught with dangerous side effects, including suicide. CNN Health5 also reported that some patients taking the drug have reported heart valve problems.

The drug’s website6 admits that it’s still not known whether Belviq might increase your risk of heart problems or stroke. A sound health care system simply would not encourage the use of a weight loss drug that might lead to increased heart attack or stroke risk when the appropriate dietary- and lifestyle changes would REDUCE those risks right along with the lost weight…

The fact is, well-educated nutritional experts already KNOW what’s causing obesity and how to fix the problem. But this involves massive changes to the processed food industry, updating agricultural subsidies to promote healthier non-processed foods, and telling the public the truth about nutrition—without any regard for industry profitability. We also need to stop the dangerous marketing of junk food to children.
